The Game and YG have joined forces for a new collaboration titled “Red People,” bringing two generations of Compton rap together over production led by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. Released on July 23, the track arrived shortly before the two West Coast stars faced one another during the “Compton Forever” edition of VERZUZ in Los Angeles.
The record opens with The Game repeating “I see red people,” a Blood-inspired twist on the famous line from The Sixth Sense. From there, both rappers deliver forceful verses celebrating their Compton backgrounds, street affiliations and lasting influence on West Coast hip-hop.
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland give the song a hard-hitting foundation built around recognizable elements from Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s “Deep Cover” and KRS-One’s “Step Into a World (Rapture’s Delight).” Additional production credits include Buci Beats, Avery Chambliss, Sela Vave and Treyvonce Moore, creating a track that connects classic hip-hop textures with a more current sound.
“Red People” also served as a fitting introduction to The Game and YG’s VERZUZ appearance. Although the pair entered the event to compare their respective catalogues, releasing a joint record beforehand showed that the celebration was ultimately bigger than competition. It gave both artists an opportunity to represent their city together while Swizz Beatz and Timbaland continued the collaborative spirit behind the VERZUZ platform.
With The Game’s commanding lyricism, YG’s unmistakable delivery and production from two of hip-hop’s most respected hitmakers, “Red People” carries the energy expected from a major West Coast collaboration. The single is now available across streaming platforms through The Black Wall Street and FTS Global Management.
