Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor won’t join royal family in summer getaway

King Charles is believed to have “no plans” to see his brother either and is hoping to keep him contained in the county.

Currently living at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor reportedly spends his days walking his dogs, watching television and occasionally riding around the estate.

The 66-year-old has remained out of the spotlight amid a police investigation into his conduct as the UK’s trade envoy and connections to the late Jeffrey Epstein, though he denies any wrongdoing.

Despite his retreat from public life, King Charles continues to support his younger brother financially.

Sources say the King provides a “modest stipend” to cover living and staff expenses, with the intention of “containing” him to Norfolk.

A source said the idea of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor joining the wider royal family at Balmoral in Scotland would raise “considerable sensitivities”.

Although the King occasionally stays at Sandringham House, the two brothers have not been seen together since the Duchess of Kent’s funeral at Westminster Cathedral on September 16, 2025.

No member of the royal family has appeared in public with Andrew since then, and the Prince and Princess of Wales are also understood to have kept their distance.

He has lived a mostly isolated existence at Marsh Farm.

Mr Mountbatten-Windsor and his former wife Sarah Ferguson left the Royal Lodge in Windsor in February, after the King gave them notice of their eviction in the autumn.

Before their eviction, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor had joined the family at Balmoral during the summer.

However, as further revelations surfaced about his connections to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, the King stripped him of his royal titles and honours.
