There will not be a double dose of Celebrity Jeopardy! this year. The game show will premiere its fifth season in 2027.
According to an ABC press release, Season 5 of Celebrity Jeopardy! has been pushed to midseason. What does that mean? Typically, mid-season premieres happen in January or February, compared to the fall. So, check back here for an update closer to the time.
The season was originally announced to air in the fall during the Disney upfronts on May 12. The release states that the date for Celebrity Jeopardy!, along with the other mid-season shows, will be announced at a later date.
“We enter this fall season from a position of undeniable strength,” Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, said in a press release. “Our focus has always been simple: Make the best shows on television and get them to audiences however they want to watch. That strategy continues to drive the success of ABC and Hulu — from legacy hits being embraced by new generations to breakout series becoming the next cultural touchstones. With a standout slate of comedies, dramas, unscripted and live programming, alongside marquee events like the Super Bowl, the College Football Playoff, the Grammys, and the Oscars in 2027, our content engine is firing on all cylinders.”
Typically, the spinoff game show airs on Wednesday nights at 9/8c. This year, that slot goes to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, which will still air its fifth season into October. However, an exact reason for the change was not given.
Ken Jennings will return as host of the celebrity version. He hosts all of the versions of the game show, aside from Pop Culture Jeopardy! (Colin Jost) and ESPN Jeopardy! (Joe Buck), both of which are exclusively on streaming.
The cast has not yet been revealed, and probably won’t be for a while, since it was pushed back. However, it is expected to be all-new celebrities, as Season 4 was All-Stars, which brought back contestants from Seasons 1 through 3.
The Celebrity Jeopardy! winner takes home $1 million for their chosen charity, and the Celebrity Jeopardy! trophy. They also most likely earn a spot in the Tournament of Champions. Second and third place win $200,000 for their charities. Mina Kimes won Season 4 and will compete in the Tournament of Champions, also rumored to air in early 2027.
To get your fix until Season 5, the previous seasons can be streamed on Hulu.
