Emma Roberts married Cody John in Idaho on July 25
Her father, Eric Roberts, addressed his absence from the wedding in a new statement
“I love my daughter, always have, always will,” Eric said in part
Eric Roberts is speaking out after missing his daughter Emma Roberts‘ wedding.
Emma, 35, married fellow actor Cody John during an outdoor ceremony in Sun Valley, Idaho, on Saturday, July 25. Two days later, Eric, 70, confirmed to Page Six that he did not attend the wedding.
“I love my daughter, always have, always will,” Eric told the outlet in a statement. “It is perfectly wonderful for her to celebrate however she wants, with whomever she wants.”

Eric welcomed Emma with ex Kelly Cunningham in 1991, but he lost custody of her when she was a baby due to past struggles with drug addiction.
The Dark Knight star explained on Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson in April that he was “not to be depended on emotionally whatsoever” when Emma was born, but challenged speculation that they have an estranged relationship. “It’s only complicated through outside eyes because they don’t get any of it,” he said.
Although Eric was absent from the wedding celebration, his sister, Julia Roberts, attended the wedding with her husband, Danny Moder, per wedding photos. Also in attendance was Emma’s 5-year-old son Rhodes Robert Hedlund, whom she shares with ex Garrett Hedlund.
Emma walked down the aisle in a custom-designed, draped Monique Lhuillier gown, while John sported a brown suit. The couple exchanged vows atop an elevated platform encircled by flowers just steps away from a rushing river as guests looked on before sealing their marriage with a kiss.

The American Horror Story star said “I do” to John after about four years of dating.
Emma and John went public with their romance in August 2022, and they announced their engagement three years later in July 2025.
