The Traitors’ heartthrob Alexander Dragonetti has finally addressed the swirling rumours about his love life following his rise to fame on the acclaimed BBC show.
In a tense and thrilling conclusion to the season, Friday night’s grand finale of The Traitors saw team members Leanne and Jake emerge victorious, having pocketed an impressive £94,600 between them. However, fan favourite Alexander, alongside Frankie, faced the crushing blow of being expelled from the game as Faithfuls in the final showdown.
Despite not nabbing a slice of the cash prize, it’s undeniable that Alexander has snatched the affection of viewers across the country. Speaking to the Mirror, he divulged details on his current relationship status, giving hope to adoring fans.
During the series, when host Claudia Winkleman mentioned Alexander was single, it whipped fans into a veritable storm of excitement. Time may have passed since then, but the darling of the show confirms he is still on the singles scene.
In response to whether he’s seeking romance amid his newfound celebrity, Alexander quipped: “I am still single… I’ll probably leave it there,” reports the Mirror.
However, those aspiring to catch Alexander’s eye might face stiff competition following a cheeky reveal by Claudia on last night’s Uncloaked, the spin-off show, about her Whatsapp exploding with enquiries from pals dying to know if this ex-diplomat is still available.
Alexander isn’t just a pretty face; the nation has fallen for more than his striking looks.
His gentle character, the poignant moment he departed the train pretending to be ‘out’ of the game, and yes, even his comical tumble during the badminton game have together secured his position as an unforgettable contestant.
Alexander expressed his heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support during his time on the show, saying: “I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve had during this.
It was quite an intense process because I got off the train and then came back into the game only two and a half weeks ago. It’s been made so much more enjoyable because of all the support out there and I’m enormously grateful for it, it really means a lot.”
He also reflected on the pivotal moment he chose to leave the train in the first episode, which could have ended his journey prematurely: “I thought carefully about the language Claudia used over the tannoy, I thought, well, she’s not saying we’re exiting the game.”
Alexander added that his knowledge of previous seasons helped him anticipate a potential return. “Anyone in series 1 and 2 had been either banished or murdered. No one leaves unless they are.”
Moreover, Alexander believes his ‘early exit’ strategy ultimately played a crucial role in his success: “I also know that the first few episodes can be tough.
“It’s the luck of the draw on who goes and who stays. So, I thought if I missed some of those, and came in with the story of ‘I’ve done the right thing’ it could be helpful.”
The show’s audience was outraged on Friday night when Alexander was eliminated. Despite not taking a share of the sizeable cash prize, he insisted he was “really happy” with his experience and has no regrets about appearing on the popular programme.
