Did Shahid Throw Shade At Ranveer & Deepika For Padmaavat?

Shahid Kapoor is currently busy promoting his upcoming action thriller Deva. During a recent podcast episode, he shared an instance from his career where he was sidelined by his co-actors on a project.

In a podcast with Raj Shamani, Shahid Kapoor said, “Ye Kabir Singh ke pehle mere saath hua tha. Mere andar jo kuch tha, mujhe laga ke I am lesser. Mujhe aisa mehsoos karaya gaya. Kisi ne zabardasti nahi ki. As an artist, as a star, as an individual. Mujhe aisa situation mein dala gaya ke mujhe aisa feel ho ke main kam hoon. Aur yeh main kabhi accept nahi karunga.”

The actor further added, “It’s like your clothes are better than mine. It’s comparative. Sometimes life puts you in a situation where it plays out in a way where somebody is… you’re in enclosed proximity and you’re made to feel lesser. It’s nobody’s fault, I’m not getting into that. But that is what I went through for some time. And I was made to feel like that. And I fought it.”

The reactions

While Shahid Kapoor didn’t take names, many fans are speculating that he might be talking about Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the film Padmaavat.

Some people also called out Shahid Kapoor for playing the victim card.

One user commented, “Ye thoda jyada victim ban gye it feels. I mean in padmaavat movie you were not in lead role. So it’s obvious those who were in lead will get more attention. And also all earlier movie of yours where you were in lead and other were secondary you would have done the same.”

Another user commented, “After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, anyhow it was a big eye opener for all the fans. Bollywood is shallow, you hear it from people like Rajpal Yadav, Johnny Lever, Pankaj Tripathi, and so many better actors in the industry. These so called actors and actress stand nowhere infront of Tollywood industry and which is why they are now leaning on to Tollywood to survive. Bollywood is bad except few genuine actors and actress which the true Bollywood fan realise now.”

One user reacted, “I think he felt that way only because he dint actually act as well as ranveer n deepika , no one did anything to him but it his own low self esteem.”

Another user reacted, “He could have said no, then someone else would have played the role, he knew it… what he is doing now is unfair and underhanded… also yes, he is a celebrity’s child.”

Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming project

Shahid Kapoor will next be seen in Deva, a cop thriller directed by Rosshan Andrrews.

Deva stars Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles and will be released on January 31, 2025.
