Grammy-nominated singer Durand Bernarr is entering a new era with his latest single “Impact.”
He wrote the electro-funk track with GAWD, b.kae, and Sierra Hill, while Stanley Randolph, Poe Leos, and Bijan Davis produced it.
“Sonically, ‘Impact’ gently takes you up the hill via conversation amongst like-minded people concerning intention,” Durand explains. “By the time you’re over the hill, you’re plummeting into a wave of electronic funk with an eerie melody that reeks of Halloween, but is in no way trying to scare you.”
He adds, “It’s a firm reminder you never know where you’re going on the auditory journey. Your best bet is to just buckle up!”
“Impact” arrives with an enchanting visualizer directed by Vonjovey, which can be watched below.
“Impact” marks Bernarr’s first solo single since his 2024 EP, En Route. The project is nominated for Best Progressive R&B Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards, which takes place this Sunday (Feb. 2). It’s Bernarr’s first Grammy nomination.
“En Route is the by-product of my experiences and evolution as both a person and an artist. It’s me expressing exactly how I feel, what I need, and how I want to be treated,” Bernarr explained.
“While narrating these stories, I wanted to incorporate the eras, genres, cultures, instruments, and music legends that inspire me.”
En Route included the singles “Unknown,” “Fist Bump” featuring Free Nationals, and “GPS.”
The project is the follow-up to Bernarr’s 2022 sophomore album, Wanderlust.
