There has been lots of speculation surrounding the identities of The Masked Singer UK stars as Bear, Teeth, Bush, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Pufferfish, Snail and Wolf battle for the crown
The Masked Singer: Pufferfish sings ‘Good Luck Babe’
The sixth series of The Masked Singer UK is in full swing on ITV, with fans determined to guess the identities behind a new group of characters.
Four celebrities have already been unmasked. Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway and Bake Off’s Prue Leith were unveiled during the first episode as Spag Bol and Pegasus, respectively.
They were followed by 90s pop singer Macy Gray and T’Pau star Carol Decker, who were revealed to be the faces behind Toad in the Hole and Tattoo.
That leaves only eight remaining aliases to be unmasked. Ahead of the group performing together for the first time on Saturday (January 25), let’s recap on all the clues and theories that have been shared so far.
Bear
Songs performed:
Week 1: ‘You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two’ from Oliver!
Week 2: ‘Miami’ by Will Smith
Bear has already shown a variety of vocal talents on the show, successfully performing musical theatre and rap – two very opposing genres.
There has been a lot of stage and West End references in the clue packages so far, alluding to a theatrical superstar. Football and comedy have also been mentioned in the VTs.
Names that have been guessed include Patrick Stewart, Tom Davis, David Harewood, Example, Doc Brown and Richard Blackwood.
Blackwood cryptically addressed the rumours on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (January 21), saying: “That’s how I’d do it if I was to do it.”
The EastEnders star also said that he thinks Bear’s “swagger” has led to him being in the frame, and teased that “it’s hot” in the costume, before quickly adding: “So I’ve heard.” Is he bluffing?
Bush
Songs performed:
Week 1: ‘Wake Up!’ by The Boo Radleys
Week 2: ‘Hold My Hand’ by Jess Glynne
Bush has referenced being “happy” when spending time with their friends, and also likes to “stage manage”. In keeping with the plant theme, celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock has been named as a possible theory.
Despite the judges guessing Catherine O’Hara, Billie Piper and Stacey Solomon, fans seem pretty certain they know who is behind the mask from their voice alone.
“Bush sounds like Natalie Cassidy to me!” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter), while another said: “I think Bush is Natalie Cassidy. Sounds like her and she did gardening videos on YouTube, that’s the only clue I can get to fit!”
Could the EastEnders star be the face behind the green exterior?
Dressed Crab
Songs performed:
Week 1: ‘Lean on Me’ by Bill Withers
Week 2: ‘Let’s Groove’ by Earth, Wind & Fire
The stylish crustacean has wowed audiences with their vocals on The Masked Singer stage.
The clues have referenced sport, as Dressed Crab confessed to not wanting to be “beaten” as “there’s too much at stake”. The character has also said that their work has “lit up” the UK.
Dressed Crab towers over host Joel Dommett, who is 5ft 11 inches, so we know that this famous face is tall. Fans have subsequently landed on former NFL player and Brooklyn 99 star Terry Crews.
“Terry Crews played in the NFL, the crab is absolutely massive and it also sounds exactly like Terry Crews,” one viewer wrote on X.
A number of other performers are also in the frame, with The Weeknd, Jamie Foxx, Billy Porter and Gregory Porter being named by the judges.
Kingfisher
Songs performed:
Week 1: ‘The Rainbow Connection’ from The Muppet Movie
Week 2: ‘Iris’ by The Goo Goo Dolls
Kingfisher has been serenading us with their dulcet tones over the last few weeks. They “enjoy” the great outdoors, have reaped awards and have showcased their “chorus from time to time”.
Harry Hill was one of the first names mentioned, as his voice bears a striking resemblance to Kingfisher’s. However, one of the clues featured the name ‘Harry’ on a tag attached to a wagon wheel. Would the show be so brazen as to put the celebrity’s name in the VT?
Other guesses include Paul Whitehouse, Alan Titchmarsh, Chris Packham and Bob Mortimer.
Fans have also taken to Reddit to claim they “knew” who the famous face was, despite them not matching the clues: “Whilst the clues don’t add up, if you listen to Simon Farnaby’s voice, and then Kingfisher’s, it’s so obvious that it’s Simon Farnaby!”
Pufferfish
Songs performed:
Week 1: ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ by Chappell Roan
Week 2: ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ by Cyndi Lauper
Pufferfish is arguably one of the strongest vocalists that has appeared on The Masked Singer UK, so surely has to be in the entertainment industry.
According to the clues, the star has worked with some “fantastic” faces in their time, is a speedy learner and is “no one-hit wonder”.
The judges have guessed a number of US stars including Hayden Panettiere, Gwen Stefani, Nicole Richie and Lea Michele, but don’t let the American accent fool you – Pufferfish could be from a lot closer to home.
Musical theatre fans are “100% sure” that Samantha Barks is behind the mask. Her beloved vocals match Pufferfish’s impressive range, and the clues line up too.
“Finally got Pufferfish – it’s Samantha Barks!” one fan declared on X. “She’s been in a film with Anita Dobson (Angie Watts) and another called Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart. The boots are the same as her colour on I’d Do Anything. A sensational performer.”
Could the West End superstar be behind the mask? If her voice is anything to go by, it could be a while before we find out.
Snail
Songs performed:
Week 1: ‘Espresso’ by Sabrina Carpenter
Week 2: ‘Rule the World’ by Take That
Snail is certainly the most regal of the remaining characters, boasting several Bridgerton-inspired clue packages on the show.
The character has led a “sheltered” life, but has made their mark. Snail has also referenced revealing “scandalous secrets”.
Bridgerton is the obvious connection, with Madame Delacroix star Kathryn Drysdale becoming a popular guess among fans.
However, Snail’s most recent performance on January 18 raised a few eyebrows, as she suddenly had a distinctive Irish twang.
“#Maskedsinger snail definitely sounded Irish!” one fan wrote on X, with others agreeing. Irish stars that have since been brought to the table include Nadine Coyle, Nicola Coughlan and Andrea Corr. Is Snail really from the Emerald Isle?
Teeth
Songs performed:
Week 1: ‘(Is This The Way To) Amarillo’ by Tony Christie
Week 2: ‘Houdini’ by Dua Lipa
Teeth has left a lot of people scratching their heads, with their gender still under question.
They have admitted to being a “big mouth” and have referenced “gold” looking good on them.
The judges have gone down the footballer route, with Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan guessing Alex Scott and Jimmy Bullard, respectively. However, fans are leaning more towards the comedic side of the character.
The likes of Alan Carr, Rob Beckett, James Buckley, and even Jedward have been suggested online, but Teeth’s most recent performance has everyone stumped, as they sounded a lot more female than they previously did.
“Teeth is definitely a woman but who I have no idea. This is a toughie,” one fan wrote on X last weekend, while another said: “Teeth is 100% Melanie Giedroyc.” Could they be right?
Wolf
Songs performed:
Week 1: ‘Let’s Dance’ by David Bowie
Week 2: ‘Copacabana (At the Copa)’ by Barry Manilow
Our star-studded line-up is rounded out by Wolf, who has rocked the stage with their husky – no pun intended – tones.
As per the clues, Wolf set off on his own path, classing his “opening gambit” as a move in the right direction. He’s also referenced a “soap opera” and is ready to be “top of the food chain”.
Fans and judges are pretty set on Wolf being a professional performer, with the likes of Jason Donovan, Brendon Urie, Tony Hadley and Gary Kemp being guessed.
Some eagle-eyed fans are putting their money on Wolf being none other than Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet.
“It is definitely him. I got the same feeling when Morten Harket did TMS a few years ago, I knew immediately,” one fan wrote on Reddit, with another similarly saying: “100% Marti Pellow. The most obvious in the history of the show.”
Is Wolf home to an 80s icon, or possibly an Australian soap legend? Only time will tell.
