Children from three Isle of Wight families have been rewarded for their perseverance in a festive window spotting challenge.
The youngsters were given book tokens and certificates by the Island Storytellers for locating all the figures from the song ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ hidden in shop windows in Cowes.
Thea, aged 10, and Jaxson, aged 8, from Cowes, said: “The hardest items to find were the drummers and lords-a-leaping, but it was great family fun!”
Paul Armfield of Medina Books said: “We had some very happy winners in the shop yesterday. We like to support community activities like this.
“It brings fun and entertainment to the high street, highlighting the fact that independent shops are so much more than just retail outlets.
“The window spot quest helps foster the idea that Cowes is a place with things going on.”
Archie Westhorpe, 7, said: “I enjoyed looking through the windows, counting them up to make sure we’d found them all.”
Archie and his sibling Tom went racing straight off to Medina Books after the award winning presentation to spend their book token.
The challenge, which took place in December, was organised by the Island Storytellers who crafted the figures and placed them in more than 60 businesses around Cowes.
