The Grammy Awards will look a little different this year.
After fans feared the ceremony will be canceled, the 2025 Grammy Awards will be taking place this weekend with highly-anticipated performances from stars like Billie Elish, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter.
As viewers gear up to see the winners of notable categories like Best New Artist, the Recording Academy has announced some changes to this year’s ceremony.
Firstly, the show will not be adding any new categories, which is the first time they have done this in four years. There will be 94 categories recognized at the event.
Along with producers and engineers, featured artists on awarded songs will also receive winner’s certificates for all genre album categories. This won’t apply for bigger categories like Album of the Year or Song of the Year.
Best Children’s Music Album is now targeted to a specific age group, specified as infants to 12-year-olds. Also, the submissions must have lyrics and translations.
For video game music, a submission for Best Score Soundtrack only qualified if 50% of the music came from new content released during this year.
Lastly, Conjunto music, which is a type of roots music, is now competing under the Best Regional Roots Music Album category, instead of Best Música Mexicana Album. This group will have various styles like Cajun, Hawaiian, and Native American.
The 67th Grammy Awards will air Sunday on CBS at 8 p.m. EST.
