Alabama-born country crooner Kashus Culpepper has unveiled his latest track, ‘Jenni,’ the fifth single in his growing catalog. Known for blending country, soul, blues, and folk, Culpepper continues to make waves with his hauntingly beautiful sound.
The Story Behind ‘Jenni’
The inspiration for the new song came during a surreal moment for Culpepper. Last summer, while on stage with Zach Bryan at Buckeye Country Superfest, he caught sight of a woman in the crowd. That fleeting moment sparked an idea, which he later turned into a song alongside co-writers Jordan Dozzi and Jacob Durrett. Produced by Brian Elmquist of The Lone Bellow, the track opens with a harmonic riff and unfolds into a story as raw and heartfelt as Culpepper’s signature delivery.
“Inspiration comes at the craziest times,” Culpepper shared about the creative process.
A Rising Star
Culpepper’s unique blend of Southern influences has drawn praise from notable names and publications. His single ‘Pour Me Out’ caught the attention of GRAMMY-winner John Mayer, who called it “as good as it gets.” Meanwhile, MusicRow hailed Culpepper’s debut track, ‘After Me?,’ urging listeners to “believe in this man.”
The artist has already achieved milestones in his burgeoning career. In just six months as a recording artist, Culpepper made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry, cementing his place as one of country music’s most promising newcomers.
Recorded in Muscle Shoals
To capture his authentic Southern sound, Culpepper and his band teamed up with producer Brian Elmquist to record his recent singles in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Known for its rich musical history, Muscle Shoals provided the perfect backdrop for Culpepper’s evocative storytelling.
2025: A Year to Watch
Culpepper’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. This year, he’ll take his sound on the road, opening for artists like Leon Bridges and Ian Munsick while making debut appearances at major festivals including Stagecoach, C2C London, and Tortuga Music Festival.
