Pop star Katy Perry is hitting back in her ongoing legal battle with 85-year-old Carl Westcott over her $11.25 million Montecito mansion.
The singer and her legal team claim Westcott’s family is dragging her husband, Orlando Bloom, into the courtroom to create a “media circus” around the bitter case.
In court documents filed last week, Perry’s lawyers argued: “The ulterior motive of the subpoena to Mr. Bloom is self-evident: Westcott wants to continue turning the case into a media circus, either out of personal animus toward [Perry] and her family or in a misguided effort to leverage an unfair settlement.”
The family had subpoenaed Bloom, claiming he was heavily involved in property management.
However, Perry’s team fired back, insisting Bloom had “no knowledge remotely bearing on the facts of this case,” and called the move an unnecessary “sideshow.”
“The ‘damages’ being sought are absolutely egregious,” a family source spilled. “The least she can do is look them in the eye while she does it.”
Perry’s team argues the mansion requires millions in repairs due to water damage, fallen trees, and years of neglect while she waited to move in.
Perry and Bloom have placed $9 million in escrow but continue to dispute additional payments.
Westcott’s family friend said of Perry: “She’s taken their father’s house and now she wants the shirt off his back.”
