Lady Gaga’s fiancé, Michael Polansky, is engaged to one of the most famous women in the world, but he’s taking it in stride.
The tech entrepreneur, 41, opened up about his relationship in Elle’s February cover story on the pop star, published on Tuesday, January 28.
“Accepting that you won’t have the privacy others might have was the hardest part,” Polansky explained. “But Stefani’s comfort with it and patience with me has been amazing. Our relationship is probably a lot like everyone else’s. We just have to figure out how to do some of it in public. That makes it even more important for us to have strong friendships and close family relationships. We find normalcy where we can.”
Gaga (whose real name is Stefani Germanotta) echoed her fiancé’s sentiments, saying that the couple love to spend nights at their Los Angeles home with friends and family. “We make pasta together; we roast things,” she said. “We also really like making simple dishes with Michael’s mom, who lives nearby.”
The Grammy winner, 38, connected with Polansky through her own mom, Cynthia Germanotta, who set the pair up after she met Polansky at a charity event over five years ago. “I’ve met your future husband,” Cynthia famously told her daughter.
Gaga confirmed her engagement to Polansky in July 2024. The duo were first linked in late 2019 and quarantined together during the coronavirus lockdowns of 2020.
Polansky served as an executive producer on Gaga’s seventh studio album, Mayhem, which she officially announced on Monday, January 27. Mayhem is set for release on Friday, March 7.
“This album was so much fun to watch her make,” Polansky told Elle. “She recorded it right down the street from our house, so we could easily walk back and forth from the studio. I spent a lot of time with her, bringing my laptop to work while she was there. What surprised me most was how fast she is. I couldn’t believe how quickly a song would take shape. Within five minutes, 80 percent of the song would have come from nothing.”
While Gaga is gearing up for the next chapter of her career, she’s also thinking about starting a family with Polansky, telling the outlet that she thinks of her future as being about “me and Michael and our kids.”
She added that she and Polansky have already discussed how they’d like to raise any children they have.
“That’s something Michael and I have talked about a lot — allowing our kids to be their own people,” she recalled. “It’s such an intense thing for kids coming into the world. And they’re told how to think and what to believe in and how to eat … I just kind of want to let my kids find out who they are.”
