More information is coming out following the death of Linda Lavin.
The actress, who won a Tony award for her performance in Broadway Bound in the ’80s, passed away on December 29, 2024 at the age of 87. At the time, her rep said she passed “unexpectedly due to complications from recently discovered lung cancer.”
On Monday (January 27), Linda‘s death certificate was made public and more details about her official cause of death was revealed.

Cardiopulmonary arrest stops blood from pumping into the heart, which prevents oxygen from being delivered to vital organs, per the Cleveland Clinic.
It was also revealed that a few days before her passing, Linda underwent a bronchoscopy, which “is a minimally invasive procedure to diagnose problems with your lungs or airways,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Linda was cremated on January 4 at the Los Angeles home she shared with husband Steve Bakunas, whom she married in 2005.
Before her death, Linda was working on the upcoming Hulu sitcom Mid-Century Modern, which she starred in alongside Matt Bomer, Nathan Lane, and Nathan Lee Graham.
In a new interview, the show’s co-creator revealed how her character will be written off the series.
