Los Angeles Fires Benefit Concerts: A Guide to Help

In the wake of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, the music community has stepped up with financial aid from MusiCares and other forms of monetary and emotional support. There is also a growing list of benefit concerts, both in California and around the U.S., with proceeds going toward those impacted by the catastrophe. Here’s a running list.

Tunes for Tomorrow: A Musical Fundraiser
When & Where: Jan. 14 — Los Angeles @ The Hotel Café
Lineup: Zen Thomas, Sacha Carlson, Stela Cole, Return to Dust, Gonzalo Martin, Kate Grahn, Tin Angel, and Haleigh Bowers
Lucas Flood transforms his usual Not Another Showcase into a musical event aimed to raise money for the victims of the Los Angeles fires. Flood said that the event will use the money raised to give to “a family that lost everything and is under their fundraising goal.”

Fire Aid Picolandia
When & Where: Jan. 18 — Pico Rivera, CA @ Pico Rivera Sports Arena
Lineup: To be announced
The Pico Rivera Sports Arena in Pico Rivera, California, has become a makeshift shelter for displaced horses and large livestock in the wake of the fires. On Jan. 18, a Saturday, the venue, a headquarters for Hispanic music fans in the area, will play host to 15 Latin artists in the banda, norteño, and tambarazo genres.

For Los Angeles: Troubadour
When & Where: Jan. 22 — West Hollywood @ Troubadour
Lineup: Annika Bennett, Cannons, Local Natives, Lydia Night, Madison Cunningham, Medium Build, Olivia O’Brien, Winnetka Bowling League, and more
Christopher Mintz-Plasse will host the first of two For Los Angeles shows featuring “stripped back sets” with all proceeds benefitting those affected by the wildfires.

9th Annual Metal Hall of Fame Gala
When & Where: Jan. 22 — Anaheim, CA @ Grand Theater
Lineup: Poison drummer Rikki Rockett, Kill Devil Hill, Chris Poland and Jeff Young (formerly of Megadeth), Alibis, Wicked
The headbanging Metal Hall of Fame Gala pivots to a fundraising telethon to help raise money for those affected by the L.A. wildfires. Eddie Trunk and Cathy Rankin host the event, which wil features an all-star jam and surprise guests.

NY for LA
When & Where: Jan. 22 — New York @ Bowery Ballroom
Lineup: JP Saxe and more to be announced
JP Saxe, the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, will gather fellow musicians for a night of community. Originally slated to be a release party for the single “Safe,” Saxe says it’s “a benefit show now. wtf is the point of a song about the way I wanna make the people I love feel safe if we don’t actually do some shit.”

L.A. Fires Benefit Show
When & Where: Jan. 26 — Brooklyn, New York @ Cassette
Lineup: Palehound, Beck Zegans of Goo, Marem Ladson
The Brooklyn club Cassette will welcome an indie-heavy lineup of Palehound, Beck Zegans of Goo, and Marem Ladson to raise funds for victims of the L.A. fires on Sunday, Jan. 26.

I Love L.A.: New York City Bands for L.A. Fire Relief
When & Where: Jan. 27 – 29 — New York @ Bowery Electric, Heaven Can Wait, Berlin
Lineup: Gift, Ginger Winn, Patton Magee from the Nude Party, Laura Jean Anderson, Austin Royale, Discovery Zone, 95 Bulls, ZOPA, NY Grim
On the other side of the country, in Manhattan, a trio of New York clubs will partake in three days of benefit concerts, running Monday, Jan. 27, through Wednesday, the 29th. Participating artists include Gift, Ginger Winn, Patton Magee from garage rockers the Nude Party, and, on Jan. 28. at Bowery Electric, ZOPA, the band led by The Sopranos actor Michael Imperioli.

For Los Angeles: Lodge Room
When & Where: Jan. 28 — Los Angeles @ The Lodge Room
Lineup: Lord Huron, Stephen Sanchez, Magdalena Bay, Madi Diaz, and Zinadelphia
Lodge Room will host this cohort of stars for a show with all proceeds benefitting the California Community Foundation Wildlife Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation.

L.A. Gives Back: Fire Relief
When & Where: Jan. 29 — Los Angeles @ The Bellwether
Lineup: To be announced
The seventh installment of “L.A. Gives Back” is dedicated to the Los Angeles community and will raise funds for charities supporting fire victims, firefighters and first responders, and animal aid.

FireAid
When & Where: Jan. 30 — Inglewood, California @ Intuit Dome
Lineup: Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Jelly Roll, Stevie Nicks, Sting, Green Day, Lil Baby, and more
Set for Thursday, Jan. 30, at the 18,000-seat Intuit Dome in L.A.’s Inglewood neighborhood, “FireAid” is being organized by AEG, the Irving Azoff family, and Live Nation. In addition to the above, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Joni Mitchell, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rod Stewart, Tate McRae, and Dave Matthews (playing with John Mayer for the first time) are all on the bill.

Deorro & Friends
When & Where: Jan. 30 — Los Angeles @ Exchange L.A.
Lineup: Deorro and guests to be announced
Deorro, the Latin Grammy-nominated DJ, artist, and producer hosts a benefit with all net proceeds going to the LAFD and other orgs that support fire victims.

I When & Where: Jan. 31 — Pomona @ The Glass House
Lineup: Eslabón Armado, Cuco, DannyLux
Música mexicana group Eslabón Armado will host a benefit concert in Pomona with all of the funds raised going to “help people affected by the fires in California. Cuco and DannyLux will also perform.

The Hotel Cafe Presents: A Benefit for Los Angeles
When & Where: Jan. 31 — Hollywood @ The Hotel Café
Lineup: Johnnyswim, Rozzi, Dirty Honey, Margaret Cho, Brigitte Calls Me Baby, Cary Brothers, Vickie Peterson and John Cowsill, Devan of Wild Rivers, Chris Pierce, and more
The iconic Hotel Café venue will host a myriad of artists for a concert with all proceeds going to MusiCares.

Dilla Day L.A.
When & Where: Feb. 8 — Los Angeles @ Beehive
Lineup: Slum Village, Frank-N-Dank, Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, Wild Child of Lootpack, Shortkut, Daru Jones, J. Rocc of the Beat Junkies
The annual show in honor of J. Dilla, hosted by his mother Ma Dukes, is now a benefit for the victims of the Eaton fire. The lineup for the Saturday, Feb. 8, show, at Beehive (961 E. 61st St.) is set to include names like Slum Village and Frank-N-Dank.

Blink 182
When & Where: Feb. 13 — Los Angeles @ Hollywood Palladium
Lineup: Blink 182 with special guest Alkaline Trio
Blink 182 will perform at the Hollywood Palladium on February 13, the band confirmed, a considerable underplay given that they usually play stadiums and arenas. 100 percent of the proceeds from the show will go to the LAFD Foundation, the California Fire Foundation, the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, and the Pasadena Humane Society.

BMAC x Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Music Maker ‘ReStore & Rebuild’ LA
When & Where: Jan. 29 — Los Angeles @ Delilah
Lineup: Anthony Hamilton, Andra Day, Grayson Roberts, 1500 or Nothin’
The Black Music Action Coalition, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis announced their third annual Music Maker Dinner, with the proceeds from this year’s event going to BMAC’s LA Fire Relief Fund. Aside from the relief efforts, Jimmy Jam and Lewis will also present Music Maker financial grants to upcoming Black music artists.
