Meghan Markle has been praised by one of her close pals in a new book released just days after the latest wave of allegations against her emerged.
The Duchess of Sussex was the subject of a damning report by Vanity Fair, which cited sources claiming that “several” of her former staff had to take “breaks from work to escape scrutiny”, leave their job altogether or undergo “long-term therapy”.
Meghan has declined to comment on the latest allegations, but sources close to her and Prince Harry said they find them “distressing”.
Now, her old pal, author and TV producer Lindsay Jill Roth, has paid a sweet tribute to her and praised their “unbreakable bond” in her new book’s acknowledgements section.
Ms Roth described what the duchess is really like behind closed doors and named her a “sister by choice” in Romances & Practicalities: A Love Story (Maybe Yours!) in 250 Questions – released today.
She wrote: “Meghan Sussex, Meg, to be sisters by choice, still thinking the same thing at the same time after all these years – no matter how many miles between us – is my favorite(sic) part of our unbreakable bond.
“There for each other always, sharing a deep loyalty and understanding – I could tell you anything, and it would be okay. I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart).”
The duchess met the author during their freshman year at Northwestern University when they both joined a literature class.
Meghan attended Northwestern University from 1999 until 2003 when she graduated with a double major in theatre and international studies.
The two women have maintained a close relationship over the years with Meghan even being Ms Roth’s maid of honour for her wedding in 2016.
Ms Roth previously praised Meghan for her “unconditional love” during an interview in the lead up to her book’s release.
She told People magazine: “I think it’s rare to find friends who love you unconditionally, and I’ve been lucky in my life to have a few who I truly consider family.
“It’s almost like those words aren’t enough.”
