LOS ANGELES — Please make sure your seatbelts are fastened and prepare for landing, and in the case of Lionsgate’s new film “Flight Risk,” hope you have a pilot like Michelle Dockery and not Mark Wahlberg.
In the film, Wahlberg plays a pilot transporting an Air Marshal (Dockery) accompanying a fugitive (Topher Grace) to trial, but as they cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar, and trust is tested as not everyone on board is who they seem.
“It’s the type of film that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole movie,” Dockery told Spectrum News. “It’s definitely something you need to see on the big screen.”
She said working with Wahlberg on “Flight Risk” was exciting because it’s a role that we not used to seeing him playing. After all, it’s been years since he played a villain. Dockery also told Spectrum News it was exciting to work with Mel Gibson, who is the film’s director.
But in the film, whose character annoyed or creeped Dockery more?
“A bit of both,” she said, laughing. “The banter between the two of them, which is in the script, but there was also room that Mel gave us a little bit of room to improvise between moments. The back and forth between those two characters, Winston (Grace) and Daryl (Wahlberg), it was very, very funny to witness.”
And in case you were wondering, after filming “Flight Risk,” Dockery said she just might take up some flying lessons.
“Flight Risk” stars Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace. It is directed by Academy Award winner Mel Gibson. It is now playing in theaters.
