OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) – On Jan. 27, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce made an announcement pertaining to the Oklahoma Film and Music Offices’ “Oklahoma Film Friendly Communities.”
Seven additional Film Friendly Communities will be added to the list, making the total number of certified communities in Oklahoma 38.
The seven communities that were added in 2024 and currently in 2025 are the following:
- Norman
- Vinita
- Claremore
- Collinsville
- Chandler
- Spencer
- Oklahoma City
These seven communities will be joining some of the other local communities on the list like Lawton, Duncan, Chickasha, and more.
The film-friendly communities make it known that the community is a great place for potential filming productions.
“Becoming a Film Friendly Community means that you are letting potential film and TV productions know that your city is the perfect site for their project,” said Jeanette Stanton, Director of the Oklahoma Film + Music office. “Now is the time to promote your community as film-friendly because more film and TV projects are choosing Oklahoma than ever before. This is the best way for communities to take advantage of and participate in Oklahoma’s booming film industry.”
The “Oklahoma Film Friendly Communities” program has helped with the expansion of film and television in the industry to progress more into the entertainment field.
