Peter Andre has admitted he has “bottled it” when it comes to making a big decision about his family’s future. The 51-year-old has shared that he and wife Emily don’t want any more children but there is one preventative measure he is too scared to take.
He already has Junior and Princess with ex Katie Price and Theo, Amelia and Arabella with his current wife and now he has said that he is “done”.
Speaking to hosts Wendy and Alison on the Netmums Podcast, when asked if he would ever consider having another kid, the Mysterious Girl singer replied: “I’m done. And the thing is, what’s more important is that she said she’s done.”
He added: “Anyway, if she said she’s not done, I would try so hard to avoid this happening again because we’ve got enough children. I mean, how many do we want? I said to her, why don’t I make it permanent? Why don’t I do something about it?”
Peter was referring to having a vasectomy – a surgical procedure that prevents pregnancy by cutting and sealing the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles. However, once the idea popped into his head, he found himself over thinking it and started to worry.
The pop star shared that he thought his voice might go “really high pitched” after having the procedure done. He also asked people he knew who had it done what it was like and was stunned when they replied saying “horrific”.
Solidifying his decision, Peter explained: “Look, I’m not gonna lie, I’ve completely bottled it. It’s freaked me out.”
He added: “It’s going to take some guts to do and I need to man up. I need to actually just go, you know what? Get over it and do it. But I’m just struggling a bit at the moment with the thought.”
Peter also previously asked to adopt Katie Price’s eldest son, Harvey, after being step dad and helping to care for him for many years.
Their bond continued long after his 2009 split from and Katie after four years of marriage, with Peter saying in 2017: “Harvey will always be special to me and I just want him to be happy.”
He added: “He’s such a good-hearted boy, I see him a bit more now, which is amazing. He’s just the best, I love him.
“There’s always room for Harvey at our house. I always saw him as my own. There’s a special place in my heart for him – he’s very important to me and he’s always welcome.”
