An “embarrassed” Prince Andrew is trying to hide in the shadows at his home in Royal Lodge in Windsor as it remains in dire need of repairs, it has been claimed.
Royal expert, Hilary Fordwich, told Fox News Digital: “Prince Andrew has voiced, to friends, he’s embarrassed [by] his situation.”
She added: “The declining disrepair and decay… of his residence has become a spectacle, a visual reflection of the broader fallout from his despicable involvement with Jeffrey Epstein and further fall from royal favor.”
Insiders have also claimed to the Daily Mail that Andrew’s 30-room mansion is surrounded by shrubbery and woodland, as the flowers that once bloomed are nowhere to be seen.
In November, reports arose that Andrew, who was at risk of eviction after his allowance was cut, managed to raise the money he needed to continue staying at Royal Lodge where he resides with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.
The property, thought to be worth £30 million, was leased by the late Queen Elizabeth to her second son over 20 years ago. But reports state Charles thinks he should move somewhere more modest such as Frogmore Cottage.
‘The Battle for Royal Lodge: Andrew vs Charles’ which aired on Channel Five, discussed reasons for Andrew’s potential eviction.
Royal correspondent Emily Andrews said: “The reason given by those close to the King is that he doesn’t think it’s appropriate for a disgraced member of the royal family to live in such luxury.”
PR expert Mark Borkowski told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive podcast: “I think he just needs to carry on playing golf and driving his cars around the estate and whatever.” He added there was “no way” anyone would go near him for work after the scandals that had hit him in the past 10 years.
Prince Andrew recently came under fire when court documents exposed his links to Chinese businessman, Yang Tengbo. However, The Duke of York claims he “ceased all contact” with the businessman – who himself has denied he is a spy – after receiving advice from authorities.
In a rare statement, Prince Andrew‘s office issued the following announcement: “The Duke of York followed advice from HMG (His Majesty’s Government) and ceased all contact with the individual after concerns were raised. The duke met the individual through official channels, with nothing of a sensitive nature ever discussed. He is unable to comment further on matters relating to national security.”
Andrew has been scrutinised since he stepped down as a working royal and gave up his HRH titles after his disastrous Newsnight interview with presenter Emily Maitlis. The prince’s popularity plummeted following the BBC interview where he discussed his association with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
