Prince Harry has said he’s “grateful” for his life in America as he opened up about the possibility of returning to the royal family .
The Duke of Sussex stepped down as a senior working royal in 2020, alongside his wife Meghan Markle . The pair then moved to Montecito, California, where they now live with their two young children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet .
Harry and Meghan are no longer close to the royal family but amid reports of a possible reconciliation , speculation has mounted that they could return to the U.K. However, Harry has previously hinted this won’t be happening soon.

During an interview to promote his memoir Spare on Good Morning America, Harry was asked by host Michael Strahan about rejoining the royal family. Harry promptly replied, “No, I don’t think it is ever going to be possible.”
He explained how external forces complicated any potential familial agreement. “Even if there is an agreement, or an arrangement between me and my family, there is that third party that is going to do everything they can to make sure that isn’t possible,” the Duke of Sussex said.
He added they were not a barrier to him and Meghan returning, but rather to making any return survival. Meanwhile, reports suggest his brother Prince William has signaled Harry would not be welcome in the royal family.
The brothers have become estranged in recent years as relations between Harry and other members of the royal family continue to be strained. It’s believed Harry last saw King Charles 11 months ago, even though he visited the UK in September.
While the father and son are still communicating, their bond is reportedly not as strong as it used to be. It’s currently unclear when Harry plans to return to the U.K.
