Prince Harry has been living in the US for almost five years after he and his wife Meghan Markle quit as senior working royals — but some fans hope he will still one day return to life in the UK.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, says he is “grateful” to be raising Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in the US, but his increasingly frequent solo engagements in the States have raised hopes he might seek a different life.
Some fans believe Prince Harry misses the royal role he once had, but the Duke appeared to scotch such suggestions when interviewed in 2023.
When promoting his controversial memoir Spare in a TV interview on Good Morning America, host Michael Strahan asked whether Harry and Meghan could ever return as senior working royals.
Prince Harry immediately gave the 11-word response: “No, I don’t think it is ever going to be possible.
“Even if there is an agreement, or an arrangement between me and my family, there is that third party that is going to do everything they can to make sure that isn’t possible.
“Not stopping us going back, but making it unsurvivable.”
It appears the feeling is shared by Prince William, who has reportedly made it clear his younger brother is not welcome back to the Firm.
