Prince William will meet Sir Keir Starmer following an appearance at Holocaust Memorial service later today, it has been confirmed.
The meeting will be conducted in private. It is convention that the heir to the throne will meet the Prime Minister annually.
Much like his son, King Charles is to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz in Poland.
William’s meeting with the UK Prime Minister will take place just one day after the US president Donald Trump spoke highly of the Royal Family during a phone call with Sir Keir Starmer.
President Trump discussed his “respect and affection” for the British royals, including King Charles and Prince William.
Today, William will mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau – the largest Nazi concentration camp complex – and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.
Ahead of today’s event, a royal insider noted: “As part of an unending commitment to remember those who perished and suffered from the horrors of the past, the Prince of Wales is honoured to take part in such an important commemoration.”
Back in 2020, the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a ceremony at Central Hall in Westminster to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Holocaust. During the emotional event, Prince William read an excerpt from a letter penned by a friend of his great-grandmother, Princess Alice, highlighting her efforts to rescue Jews in Athens.
