Princess Diana was known for her bold fashion choices, but when it came to her legs, she preferred going bare.
In the 1980s, royal women were expected to wear tights or pantyhose to cover their legs, in which Princess Diana found “stuffy,” reports Marie Claire
It turns out the royal was tricky and able to get around the royal rule by covering her legs with sunless tanner.
Princess Diana’s former dance teacher, Anne Allen, said of her friend and student: “She looked quite tanned, although this was hard to gauge.
Allen added: “She had told me her secret of using tanning oil on her legs to avoid wearing tights whenever possible.”
It seems the trick was to only use the tanner on her legs, versus her face and hands, to make it appear like she was in fact wearing hosiery.
According to Allen, Princess Diana confided in her about a number of things, including her marriage and her health issues.
