Princess Eugenie has shared details of her surprise trip to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia where she is admiring artwork and learning about historical artefacts.
The Princess of York, 34, took to Instagram stories to share several photographs of her holiday to the Middle Eastern country.
Eugenie captioned a story: “I had the pleasure of visiting Jeddah to see the @biennale_sa (The Diriyah Biennale Foundation)”
The Diriyah Biennale Foundation bio on Instagram reads it is “committed to creating two recurring biennales in contemporary and Islamic arts in Saudi Arabia”.
By showcasing contemporary and newly commissioned artworks with historical objects from Islamic cultures, their aim is to expand the global understanding of Islamic art and culture.
As Princess Eugenie took to Instagram with her posts on January 28, it is likely she travelled to Jeddah to visit the exhibition – the Islamic Arts Biennale.
Dressed modestly and respecting the culture, Eugenie wore a satin beige skirt and satin shirt underneath a dark blazer, and the Princess was seen smiling underneath beautiful artwork.
She also accessorised her look with a handbag from UK designer – Aspinal of London, a brand also favoured by Princess Kate.
The Princess also wore white trainers on her feet as it would be likely that Eugenie would be walking around the exhibition.
The Princess of York works as the director of an art gallery titled Hauser & Wirth, which explains her interest in art.
She also studied history of art at Newcastle University between 2009 and 2012.
In one of the social media stories, Princess Eugenie even paid homage to her uncle, King Charles. Capturing a piece of art, Eugenie captioned the post: “This was created by The King’s Foundation School.”
The King’s Foundation, celebrating its 35th year, works globally to create sustainable communities through our placemaking projects, aiming to improve the wellbeing of people, places and the planet.
