Jessica Betts made a loud appearance at the Sundance Film Festival, not just for her musical performances, but also for her recent acting success alongside her wife, and close friend of Kim Kardashian, Niecy Nash-Betts.
Jessica, known for her soulful “rock and soul” musical style, appeared on The Rookie: Feds as DJ, a character romantically involved with Niecy’s character Simone Clark.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Express US, Jessica opened up about her unique experience portraying a romance with Niecy on The Rookie: Feds and how Nathan Fillion became a close friend of the couple.
“For what people would think would be work, it wasn’t work at all,” Jessica told Express US about the duo’s on-screen romance at the Ericka Nicole Malone Entertainment Indie Directors and Creator’s lounge.
“The feelings were already innate. Translating that on screen was supernatural for us—it brought a real synergy and authenticity to the characters.”
“He’s helped us discover some incredible places—like Bora Bora! He’s just that kind of person, someone who elevates the experience of working together.”
Niecy, a veteran actress with a history of standout performances, reportedly shared an excellent rapport with Fillion on the set of The Rookie.
“I’ve realized there’s a passion for acting I didn’t even know I had,” Jessica ended the interview with.
Jessica and Neicy wed in August on 2022, and are still going strong, according to the couple.
