Disgraced actress Roseanne Barr is planning her TV comeback, seven years after she was ‘axed’.
Barr found herself cast out of Hollywood and her eponymous show Roseanne canceled in 2018 after she made a racist tweet about White House advisor Valerie Jarrett, comparing her to an “ape”.
Since the incident, she’s claimed that she didn’t know Jarrett was Black and that she was on Ambien while tweeting the statement.
The 71-year-old has now revealed her new series, which she co-wrote with Roseanne producer Allan Stephan, is “a cross between The Roseanne Show and The Sopranos.”
The new series will reportedly follow an Alabama farmer who is “saving the United States from drug gangs and China,” though he also grows and sells drugs like cannabis and psychedelic mushrooms.
Speaking to People, Barr explained: “It’s silly and out there. [It will contain] very offensive ideas and a lot of swearing. I live with my daughter her husband and their six children on a farm. And they have goats running through their house and stuff. It’s based on my life as a farmer in Hawaii.”
The new series would mark a return to TV for Roseanne, who was axed by ABC in 2018 after her ‘abhorrent’ comments. President of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey addressed the controversy in a statement at the time as he wrote: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”
However, Barr hasn’t yet confirmed a channel or broadcaster to back the new series but is adamant that it won’t be ABC. When asked what she would do if they were keen to develop the show, she replied: “I don’t give a f*** either way. I’d like to get paid handsomely to bring another s*** f****** network back from doom as I’ve done twice for ABC. But I just don’t see how they would keep their nose out of my business. We’ll see. If not, I’ll just go somewhere else and put it on my own website.”

The actress has also claimed that the American public want more conservative stories on television and want to see Tv stations working with the newly elected President Trump. She explained: “Hollywood has made itself irrelevant to the American people. If they want to survive, they should work with the new president [Donald Trump]. American people elected him in an overwhelming victory.
“They should get back in touch with [them] and make some money, which I don’t know if they do or not ’cause they’ve proven to be ideologues rather than [business people]. What shocks me is the fact that they prefer to lose money and then explain that to the shareholders who apparently have no problem with that.”
