Selena Gomez deletes video of her crying about mass deportation

Emmy-nominated actress and Grammy-nominated singer Selena Gomez is facing backlash after sharing an emotional response on social media to recent U.S. immigration policies that promised to cause widespread deportations, particularly affecting Mexican families.

In a video posted on her Instagram story, Gomez was visibly upset as she expressed her sadness and frustration over the issue.

“I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do,” Gomez tearfully said in the now-deleted video, according to a report by Rolling Stone.

The video was reportedly in response to recent deportations and immigration raids under current policies, which could displace thousands, including families with young children. Gomez referred to the situation as an attack on her “people” and emphasized the toll it’s taking on vulnerable individuals.

Shortly after posting, Gomez deleted the video after receiving mixed reactions online.

She later shared a follow-up post, writing on a black screen: “Apparently, it’s not ok to show empathy for people.”

This isn’t the first time Gomez has spoken out about immigration issues. She has often used her platform to shed light on humanitarian concerns and amplify voices from marginalized communities.
