Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Carlos Gu has been supported by his twinkle-toed co-stars as he is leaving the BBC show’s tour. The 32-year-old star performed his final live show with his colleagues last night (January 26) before taking on a new venture alongside Amy Dowden.
The BBC ballroom dancers were in Glasgow last night, performing the last of three shows there, before moving on to Liverpool for another two nights from tomorrow evening. Fellow dancer Jowita Przystal showed her admiration for Carlos in a sweet Instagram snap as he dropped out of the tour.
Posting to her Stories, she shared a picture of the pair dressed up to the nines in glitzy outfits. In it, she pecked him on the cheek as Carlos held her in a hug and grinned from ear to ear.
The dancer penned: “Last show together papi. Will miss you @gkx_carlos.” Carlos reshared the snap, adding: “Love you,” with a red heart emoji.
Elsewhere, Carlos and Amy are gearing up for a UK tour together, titled ‘Amy and Carlos Reborn’. The show’s name holds a personal meaning for the pair of them.
She told the Monday Mile podcast that she had been “reborn” and feels like a “new person” after her fight against cancer.
Explaining what the tour’s title means for Carlos, the dancer added: “For Carlos, moving to the UK, he’s been able to be true to himself.
“He’s been able to be Carlos Gu, and I’ve watched him become true to himself and I’m so proud of him.
“You know, with sexuality – with just, he says like, China, he’s from China but the UK is his home and yeah, he feels reborn since moving to the UK.
“He’s part of my family; he’s spent the last two Christmases with us; he calls my mum and dad ‘Mama, Papa’, and we can’t wait to share our love for dance but our life and our experiences on stage.”
Amy also teased that the dance show will feature “emotional moments”, as well as “joy and uplift”, with the pair also set to showcase their favourite styles and music.
