TV star Kelsey Parker has excitedly announced that she is expecting her first child with her 27 year old beau, Will Lindsay. Although overjoyed, she can’t shake off the bittersweet feelings, as she and her late husband, The Wanted singer Tom Parker, once dreamt of parenting four children.
Tom’s life was tragically cut short by brain cancer in March 2022 at just 33 years old, leaving Kelsey and their two young ones, Aurelia, now five, and Bodhi, aged four. Kelsey opened up to OK! Magazine, saying: “Tom and I always said we wanted four but life had other plans. So yes, this is amazing but also bittersweet.”
She went on to say: “The joys of finding out I’m pregnant and moving forward with my life, while thinking, ‘My life could have been so different…’ I’ve felt every emotion under the sun. I’m still getting my head around it but I’m so excited.”
Sharing a particularly poignant memory from her pregnancy, she recounts tearfully informing Tom’s family: “Tom’s mum Noreen is just amazing. She gave me her blessing instantly, she can’t wait to have another grandchild. All I care about is that both our families and Tom’s family are happy.”
She further expressed her deep connection with her mother-in-law, adding: “Noreen is the most amazing lady. After Tom passed, she said to me, ‘As long as you’re happy Kels, whatever you do, we will always support you and be happy for you.’ We’ve all been through so much together. But I’m here and bringing another baby into the world,” reports the Mirror.
Tom remains an integral part of Kelsey’s life and that of her family, including her new partner Will, who said: “Tom was a massive part of Kelsey’s life they were together for over 13 years, and had two beautiful children. So it’s normal to talk about him a lot. I think it would be weird if we didn’t.”
Kelsey fondly remembers: “Will once said he never wants me to not talk about Tom. He talks about him and loves hearing stories about him.
“There’s a massive picture of Tom upstairs. He walked past it once, smiled at me and went, ‘Oh, he’s handsome though, isn’t he?”
Kelsey shared an emotional moment on ITV’s Lorraine with host Ranvir Singh last November, opening up about the compassion and support she received from Tom’s parents, Noreen and Nigel, as she found love again with tree surgeon Will.
She expressed: “I’ve got such an amazing village and even with Tom’s parents Noreen and Nigel, they have supported me with whatever I’ve decided to do and they understand how hard it is.”
Emphasising the ongoing connection, Kelsey added: “For us at home, Tom is so alive in our house and we speak to him everyday. For my children, they are still babies and they are still processing it everyday so these conversations are never going to go away and we are still dealing with the conversation.”
