Kathakar International Storytellers Festival
The Kathakar International Storytellers Festival, India’s first and only oral storytelling festival, was launched in 2010 by the Gahilote Sisters in memory of their father, Thakur Vishva Narain Singh, the Father of Braille Literature. Under the patronage of UNESCO, this festival brings storytellers from all over India and abroad to listen to live stories, artist talks, and folk music performances. Over the years, it has drawn many personalities of note, such as the late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, A. R. Rahman, Gulzar, and Imtiaz Ali, along with international storytellers like Vergine Gulbenkian and TUUP. It has singer Mohit Chauhan as its Chief Patron.
