It’s cold outside, so stay inside, get cozy, and catch up with music news with While You Were Away. This week new music from Nova Twins and Scowl, Cradle of Filth’s new album, Linkin Park goes a cappella, and more.
Nova Twins release new song ‘Monsters’
Nova Twins have shared their new single “Monsters.” A press release calls the standalone single the start of a “bold new chapter” for the duo.
“’Monsters’ is about awakening to and understanding your mental health,” stated Nova Twins. “Growing up, we often look outward, absorbing what life throws at us. Over time, the good and bad experiences start to settle. Before learning to navigate these feelings, you may face self-loathing, anxiety and a fear of who you’ve become.”
The band continued, “Confronting these emotions, breathing through them, and opening up to someone can help. Many people struggle with mental health, and this song aims to show vulnerability and let our audience know they’re not alone.”

Cradle of Filth announce new album ‘The Screaming of the Valkyries’
Cradle of Filth have announced their new album, The Screaming of the Valkyries, out on March 21st via Napalm Records. Following the album’s lead single “Malignant Perfection,” the band have shared the second single, “To Live Deliciously.”
“The song is about the celebration of life,” said frontman Dani Filth. “Of indulging in everything unfettered from the conformities of religion, fashion or state. Free from guilt or constraint. As nature intended. It could be read as a hedonistic life code. And a positive one if not done at the expense or the suffering of others. To delight in simply ‘being,’” he added. “Being alive and free in the here and now.”

Scowl announce new album ‘Are We All Angels’
California’s Scowl have announced their new album Are We All Angels, arriving on April 4th. To preview the upcoming release, the band have shared new single “Not Hell, Not Heaven.”
“It’s about feeling victimized and being a victim, but not wanting to identify with being a victim,” singer Kat Moss said of the new single. “It’s trying to find grace in the fact that I have my power. I live in my reality. You have to deal with whatever you’re dealing with, and it ain’t working for me.”
Speaking about the progression in the band’s sound, she says “The majority of us were really not proficient musicians when this band started. It was very Germs-esque in that way, like baby’s first hardcore band, which is awesome. But now, we still might not know what we’re doing, but we have a better idea of what we want to do.”
