Jamie Lee Curtis<\/strong>, who reprised her role as Tess Coleman in Freakier Friday<\/strong>, recently explained why the new sequel was \u201cmore challenging\u201d to make than the first movie. Freaky Friday, also featuring Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman, came out in 2003 and was a massive hit. The original was one of the several adaptations of Mary Rodgers\u2019 1972 novel of the same name.<\/p>\n Curtis detailed the challenges of playing Tess in the sequel during a new interview with ComicBook<\/a>. She noted that it was harder to figure out her character this time around because the space between them was greater.<\/p>\n \u201cTeenagers are really tricky,\u201d the Oscar-winner said. \u201cIn Freaky Friday, it\u2019s really easy \u2014 adult, teenager. Adults stand up like this, teenagers slump. It was so black-and-white, so clear. In this, it\u2019s a much more subtle shift, and we had to find it with words, and language, and body behavior, and mannerisms and stuff. So, that\u2019s way more challenging because it\u2019s not as easy to think that you\u2019re getting it right,\u201d she further stated.<\/p>\n In Freaky Friday, Tess and Anna, who are mother and daughter, swap bodies and see the world from the other person\u2019s perspective. Things appear to be a bit more complex in the sequel. The trailer and other promotional material indicate Anna swaps bodies with her own daughter, Julia Butters\u2019 Harper Coleman. As for Tess, she swaps bodies with Anna\u2019s soon-to-be stepdaughter, Sophia Hammons\u2019 Lily Davies.<\/p>\n Curtis said that she used Donna Berzatto, her character in The Bear Season 2, as a reference while playing Lily in Tess\u2019 body. \u201cWith Donna, I knew I was getting it right because I know her,\u201d she explained. \u201cI don\u2019t know a Lily. I really don\u2019t, so it was harder for me to make sure I was actually getting it right,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n The cast of Freakier Friday also includes Chad Michael Murray as Jake, Mark Harmon as Ryan, and Manny Jacinto as Eric Davies.
