The British government is looking into graphic \u201cbarely legal\u201d content in light of backlash against Bonnie Blue<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s 1,000 Men and Me <\/i>documentary.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis content is pushing at the boundaries. We will be trying to address the \u2018barely legal\u2019 aspect legislatively,\u201d politician Gabby Bertin<\/strong> told The Guardian <\/i><\/a>on Sunday, August 3. \u201c[Bonnie] has become extremely successful. She is an adult, and it is consensual, so it may not be harming her, but it has potentially harmful effects on people who think that this is a normal way to behave.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cWe should be asking more about the men who arrive with balaclavas on their heads to have sex with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bertin, 47, has been one of the major supporters of the Online Safety Act, which was passed in the United Kingdom in 2023. The law requires any pornography website to have secure age requirements to log on.<\/p>\n

The U.K.\u2019s Channel 4 TV network recently sparked backlash for airing 1,000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story<\/i>. The film followed 26-year-old Blue (real name Tia Emma Billinger) as she prepared for a competitive sex challenge<\/a> of being with 1,057 men within a 12-hour span.<\/p>\n

The doc featured graphic footage of Blue filming sex scenes<\/a> and appearing nude, which several viewers slammed as \u201cdisturbing\u201d and \u201csickening.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe explicit content in the documentary is editorially justified and provides essential context,\u201d a representative for Channel 4 told Complex<\/a> in a statement, responding to the backlash. \u201cMaking pornographic content is Bonnie\u2019s job, and this film is about her work and the response to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bertin, meanwhile, is now part of a parliamentary task force that is looking into whether to ban such content altogether.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor years we have been fighting to protect our children from the kind of degrading, violent sex that exists freely on their social media feeds,\u201d Rachel de Souza<\/strong>, the children\u2019s commissioner for England, told The Guardian. <\/i>\u201cNow this documentary risks taking us a step back by glamorizing, even normalizing the things young people tell me are frightening. Bonnie Blue\u2019s content showcases violence against women as entertainment and allows sexist ideas that women are \u2018lesser\u2019 than men to go unchecked.\u201d<\/p>\n
