Prime Video is debuting its new YA series The Runarounds <\/em>next month.<\/p>\n The series, from Outer Banks<\/em> creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke, will debut with all eight episodes on September 1, the streamer revealed Thursday.<\/p>\n More from Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n The Runarounds <\/em>follows a group of recent high school graduates from Wilmington, North Carolina, who come together the summer after graduation to form a rock band, united by their shared love of music and near-impossible dream of stardom.<\/p>\n Over the course of one unforgettable summer, they throw themselves into the pursuit of their big break\u2014falling in love, getting into trouble, and building the kind of bonds that feel like family along the way. With original music, romantic entanglements, and the raw highs and lows of coming-of-age, The Runarounds<\/em> captures the rush of risking everything at the edge of adulthood to chase your dreams.<\/p>\n A trailer released Thursday with the premiere date announcement gives a taste of what to expect from the latest project to join Prime Video\u2019s growing YA slate. The video also debuts the original song \u201cFunny How The Universe Works,\u201d which is performed by the fictional band at the center of the show.<\/p>\n The band\u2019s first two singles, \u201cFunny How The Universe Works\u201d and \u201cSenior Year,\u201d are also now available to stream ahead of the premiere. The songs are part of an entire album to coincide with the show\u2019s release.<\/p>\n While the band in The Runarounds<\/em> isn\u2019t real, the characters are played by real-life musicians: William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zend\u00e9 Murdock, and Jesse Golliher. The rest of the cast includes Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, Kelley Pereira, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes MacArthur, and Shea Pritchard.<\/p>\n The Runarounds <\/em>is executive produced by Jonas Pate, Joon Yun, David Wilcox, Josh Pate, Shannon Burke, Scott Lambert, and Lisa Mae Fincannon, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television.
