Piers Morgan<\/a> has caused a stir online with a recent string of posts about Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, whom the British TV personality jokingly accused of \u201ccultural appropriation\u201d in a Marilyn Monroe-esque Levi\u2019s photo shoot. <\/p>\n It all started with a Wednesday (Aug. 6) post on X<\/a>, in which Morgan shared a photo of the pop superstar modeling Levi\u2019s denim and sporting bouncy blonde curls. \u201cVery disappointed to see Beyonc\u00e9 culturally appropriate Marilyn Monroe in her new Levi\u2019s ad,\u201d the media personality wrote.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n It wasn\u2019t long before people came to Bey\u2019s defense in the replies, lambasting Morgan for dissing the 35-time Grammy winner and misusing the term \u201ccultural appropriation,\u201d as the late actress was a person and not a culture. Morgan, however, continued stirring the pot, sharing an old photo<\/a> of himself with Bey and writing<\/a>, \u201cI would say I can\u2019t believe anyone took my obvious Beyonc\u00e9 joke post seriously \u2026 but I forgot the woke brigade have zero sense of humour.\u201d<\/p>\n And in response to one commenter who said that the Destiny\u2019s Child alum is \u201chotter\u201d than the late Hollywood icon, Morgan said<\/a>, \u201cI don\u2019t disagree.\u201d<\/p>\n Billboard has reached out to Bey\u2019s rep for comment.<\/p>\n This is far from the first time Morgan has sparked discourse by making inflammatory remarks on his social media accounts, or on his show Uncensored. He\u2019s also not the only person who\u2019s had something to say about Bey\u2019s campaign with Levi\u2019s, with Megyn Kelly recently dissing<\/a> it as \u201cartificial, fake, enhanced [and] trying too hard\u201d while praising Sydney Sweeney\u2019s widely criticized<\/a> American Eagle jeans commercials.<\/p>\n But while Kelly was being totally serious with her comments, Morgan has asserted that he was just joking in his post about Bey. In response to iconic singer Dionne Warwick<\/a> commenting that he was \u201cgetting involved in women\u2019s business again,\u201d he wrote<\/a>, \u201cOh not you too, Dionne\u2026 it was a JOKE!\u201d<\/p>\n That said, Morgan did double down on a controversial take. \u201cI think the whole concept of \u2018cultural appropriation\u2019 is bulls\u2013t,\u201d he added<\/a> on Wednesday. \u201cWhat\u2019s wrong with celebrating another country\u2019s fashion, food etc?\u201d<\/p>\n The back-and-forth comes about 10 months after the last notable time Morgan got himself in trouble with the BeyHive. In October, the British contrarian invited singer-songwriter Jaguar Wright onto Uncensored and aired her claims<\/a> that Bey and Jay-Z were \u201cmonsters\u201d with \u201chundreds of victims,\u201d shortly after which the famous couple\u2019s lawyers denied the allegations and demanded that Morgan remove them from the episode.<\/p>\n The show host obliged, telling viewers at the time, \u201cThere are legal limits on us, too \u2026 We apologize to Jay-Z and Beyonc\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n Beyonc\u00e9 has not commented on any of the drama surrounding her Levi\u2019s campaign, which has been ongoing since last year.
