Selena Gomez<\/a> and Taylor Swift<\/a> both dated Jonas Brothers at the same time, but the real love story was the two women\u2019s friendship that emerged from those romances.<\/p>\n While guesting on an episode of Jake Shane\u2019s Therapuss posted Wednesday (Aug. 6), the Rare Beauty founder reflected on how she first connected with the Eras Tour headliner nearly two decades ago. \u201cTaylor and I dated the Jonas Brothers,\u201d Gomez said with a laugh. \u201cI dated Nick, and she dated Joe \u2026 We all know and love each other now, and it\u2019s so cute. We didn\u2019t know what we were doing.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cShe and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other,\u201d Gomez continued. \u201cI was about 15, she was about 18, and that\u2019s when it was the crazy, curly [hair] Taylor, and she had all these bracelets that went all the way up [her arm] \u2026 We became best friends, bonded over the breakup, as girls do. Then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after, and here we are now 16 years later.\u201d<\/p>\n Indeed, Gomez and Swift are closer than ever. Following their romances with the JoBros, the two women have continued to support each other in their respective endeavors. In March, the 14-time Grammy winner praised<\/a> the Wizards of Waverly Place alum\u2019s joint album with fianc\u00e9 Benny Blanco, I Said I Love You First, and in May, Gomez congratulated Swift <\/a>on reclaiming her masters.<\/p>\n And, just a few weeks prior to the podcast, the former country star sent her bestie home-baked sourdough<\/a> celebrating Gomez\u2019s \u201cloaf story\u201d with Blanco, a play on the title of 2009 smash \u201cLove Story.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking of the Fearless hit, Gomez revealed on Therapuss that it was the first song Swift ever played for her before it was even released. \u201cI was in a hotel room, and I remember it vividly,\u201d she told Shane, who was in a state of disbelief. \u201cIt was just one of those songs that I instantly heard and thought, \u2018This is one of the most beautiful songs ever.’\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was so sweet,\u201d Gomez recalled. \u201cShe was like, \u2018OK, I just want to play you this song, but just, like, I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s going to be the first single, I think.\u2019 Just hearing her say those little thoughts \u2026 She is a chameleon.
