NEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Actor Michelle Trachtenberg died as a result of complications from diabetes, New York City\u2019s medical examiner said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The office said in a statement that it amended the manner and cause of death<\/a> for the 39-year-old New York City native following a review of laboratory test results.<\/p>\n Trachtenberg, who was known for \u201cGossip Girl,\u201d \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d and \u201cHarriet the Spy,\u201d was found unconscious and unresponsive<\/a> in her luxury apartment tower in Manhattan in February.<\/p>\n Officials at the time said no foul play was suspected, and the medical examiner\u2019s office had listed her death as \u201cundetermined.\u201d<\/p>\n Trachtenberg\u2019s family had objected to an autopsy, which the medical examiner\u2019s office honored because there was no evidence of criminality.<\/p>\n Her representative didn\u2019t immediately respond to an email seeking comment Wednesday.<\/p>\n Sarah Michelle Gellar, Taylor Momsen and Blake Lively were among the celebrities who mourned Trachtenberg<\/a> when her Feb. 26 death was announced.<\/p>\n Trachtenberg was 8 when she began playing Nona Mecklenberg on Nickelodeon\u2019s \u201cThe Adventures of Pete & Pete\u201d from 1994 to 1996 and then starred in the title role in the film adaptations of \u201cHarriet the Spy\u201d and \u201cInspector Gadget,\u201d opposite Matthew Broderick.<\/p>\n In 2000 Trachtenberg joined the cast of \u201cBuffy,\u201d playing Dawn Summers, the younger sister of the title character played by Gellar between 2000 and 2003.<\/p>\n Trachtenberg went on to recurring roles on \u201cSix Feet Under,\u201d \u201cWeeds\u201d and \u201cGossip Girl,\u201d where she played the gang\u2019s scheming nemesis, Georgina Sparks.
