The upcoming \u201cUnaccustomed Earth\u201d series adaptation at Netflix has added three new series regulars, Variety<\/em> has learned exclusively.<\/p>\n Indraneil Sengupta, Adi Roy, and Iyla Sundarsingh McKaig have all joined the adaptation of the Jhumpa Lahiri short story collection alongside previously announced star Freida Pinto<\/a>. When a star-crossed romance between a devoted wife and her long-lost love comes to light, a scandalous affair is born, and new battle lines are drawn in this intensely interconnected immigrant community.\u201d<\/p>\n Sengupta, who will play Jai, is known for his roles in films such as \u201cKahaani,\u201d \u201cMishawr Rawhoshyo,\u201d and the Indian drama series \u201cNimki Mukhiya.\u201d<\/p>\n Roy, who plays Kaushik, is known for starring in the Broadway productions \u201cAladdin\u201d as well as \u201cJagged Little Pill.\u201d His role in \u201cUnaccustomed Earth\u201d will mark his TV acting debut.<\/p>\n Sundarsingh McKaig, who plays Hema, recently appeared in the miniseries \u201cToxic Town\u201d and has previously been in shows like \u201cJamie Johnson\u201d and \u201cEmmerdale Farm.\u201d<\/p>\n Roy is repped by Buchwald and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Sundarsingh McKaig is repped by Articulate Agency.<\/p>\n \u201cUnaccustomed Earth\u201d has received an eight-episode order. Madhuri Shekar serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. John Wells executive produces via John Wells Productions (JWP). Ritesh Batra will direct and executive produce the first and second episodes. Nisha Ganatra, who had originally optioned the book and developed the series, will also executive produce. Lahiri will executive produce as well, along with Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow of JWP, and Celia Costas. Warner Bros.
