Kelly Clarkson<\/a> is postponing her Las Vegas residency in order to be \u201cfully present\u201d for her two children. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWhile I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children\u2019s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,\u201d she said in an Instagram post Wednesday, adding that she is \u201csincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,\u201d Clarkson said in her sign-off. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Clarkson and her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, share two children: River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Clarkson did not elaborate on Blackstock\u2019s illness.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice,\u201d the \u201cSince U Been Gone\u201d singer said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI want the shows to be perfect for y\u2019all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve,\u201d Clarkson said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d star was also notably absent<\/a> from her talk show earlier this year, though never publicly gave a reason as to why she was away. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
