\u201cI can say there\u2019s a huge shake-up in the very first episode that portends the big drama to come in Season 14,\u201d says Chicago Fire<\/a><\/em> showrunner Andrea Newman<\/a>.<\/p>\n And that\u2019s coming on the heels of the on- and offscreen drama that ended Season 13! Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo<\/a>) and Severide (Taylor Kinney<\/a>) learned they have a baby on the way; Pascal (Dermot Mulroney<\/a>) was proven innocent of trying to murder his wife\u2019s killer; and it\u2019s been reported over recent months that Daniel Kyri<\/a>, who plays Darren Ritter, and Jake Lockett<\/a>, who plays Sam Carver (who finally seemed to just be starting his long-teased romance with Violet, played by Hanako Greensmith<\/a>, in the season finale), would no longer be series regulars, while Michael Bradway<\/a>, who plays Jack Damon, Severide\u2019s younger half brother, is departing because of a scheduling conflict with another project. But there is a new face joining the ranks of Firehouse 51.<\/p>\n Brandon Larracuente<\/a> was cast as a series regular in June, though there weren\u2019t any details yet available about his character. Now, Newman has shared some.<\/p>\n \u201cThe charming Sal Vasquez is the new addition to 51, and, like Severide, this character is rich with family history in the first responder world, much of it buried,\u201d she teases. \u201cBut not for long. Vasquez will prove a real challenge to Kidd, his new lieutenant, as well as to Novak [Jocelyn Hudon<\/a>] as she tries to get to know this seemingly unknowable guy.\u201d<\/p>\n As for those who won\u2019t be returning, she echoes what she told us<\/a> in the spring ahead of the finale: \u201cIn the Chicago Fire<\/em> world, no character is ever\u00a0gone<\/em> gone! \u00a0All of these great characters\/actors are still in our world, and we definitely plan to see them again.\u201d<\/p>\n For instance, thanks to posts on social media, we already know that Kyri will be back as Ritter<\/a> for \u201ca limited time\u201d in Season 14, meaning\u00a0Fire<\/em> will show onscreen how he\u2019s written out.<\/p>\n What are you hoping to see from Brandon Larracuente\u2019s new character?
