Brandon Blackstock has died at age 48, reports People<\/a>.<\/p>\n The talent manager, who was married to Kelly Clarkson<\/a> from 2013 to 2020, died of cancer after a three-year battle.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,\u201d a rep for the family told the outlet in a statement on Thursday, Aug. 7. <\/p>\n \u201cBrandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family\u2019s privacy during this very difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n On Wednesday, Clarkson postponed her Las Vegas residency, citing that Blackstock was sick and she needed to spend time with their children, River, 11, and Remington, 9.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children\u2019s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,\u201d she wrote in an Instagram post<\/a>, apologizing to fans and thanking them for their \u201cgrace, kindness and understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to his two children with Clarkson, Blackstock also has two children from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth.<\/p>\n Blackstock, whose father Narvel Blackstock was married to Reba McEntire from 1989 to 2015, had roots in the country music industry. He previously managed Blake Shelton and became Clarkson\u2019s manager after they married. <\/p>\n \u201cI wouldn\u2019t have hired Brandon to be my manager if I didn\u2019t see first-hand how great he is at that and how much he cares about Blake,\u201d the \u201cStronger\u201d singer told Marie Claire<\/a> in 2018. \u201cAnd the way that [Blake\u2019s] career has blown up, I would have hired Brandon regardless. He\u2019s really talented at what he does and his mind really does work in a completely different way.\u201d<\/p>\n Unfortunately, Clarkson and Blackstock\u2019s professional relationship dissolved alongside their marriage.
