Happy Days<\/a>\u00a0star Don Most is best known for his role as Ralph Malph in the classic ABC sitcom, but in recent years, he\u2019s made the transition to a Colorado jazz musician. Four decades after the hit comedy series ended its 11-season run, the actor, 71, performs a show called Donny Most Sings and Swings at clubs in Colorado.<\/p>\n True to Happy Days form, Most performs classics from the Great American Songbook. But his move into the music world wasn\u2019t a totally new thing. In a new interview, Most told The Denver Post<\/a> that music was always his \u201cfirst love,\u201d and that as a young teen, he performed in a vaudeville troupe in summer camp.<\/p>\n \u201cI did a bunch of musical theater over the years, and sometimes I\u2019d get occasions to sing on telethons and charity events,\u201d Most told the outlet. \u201cBut it wasn\u2019t until about 10 years ago when it hit me, because I was still listening to jazz standards and the legendary artists who performed them. I said, \u2018If I\u2019m ever going to do it, I\u2019d better start,\u2019 because I wasn\u2019t 20 anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI put together a show the way I always wanted to do, working with a musical director I knew from the East Coast,\u201d he added. \u201cWe tried it out at a jazz club in L.A., and it went great.\u201d<\/p>\n On his Instagram page<\/a>, Most revealed that in June and July, he performed with the 17-piece band, The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, for several gigs in Denver.<\/p>\n \u201cI love performing live, whether it\u2019s acting in theater or singing in clubs,\u201d he told The Post.<\/p>\n Most rarely utilized his singing chops on Happy Days\u2014he played keyboards in the gang\u2019s Arnolds\u2019 Drive-In rock band\u2014 but he pleasantly surprised fans when he performed<\/a> the Al Jolson\/Saul Chapin-penned \u201cThe Anniversary Song\u201d in the 1976 episode \u2018They Shoot Fonzies Don\u2019t They?\u201d<\/p>\n Most told Remind magazine<\/a>\u00a0that he graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, the same prestigious Brooklyn school that music legends\u00a0Barbra Streisand<\/a>,\u00a0Neil Diamond, and Clive Davis attended.<\/p>\n \u201cIn terms of music, they had a program called Sing, where each grade would put on an original show with music.
