Thanos star Josh Brolin<\/a> has revealed who he could have played in James Cameron<\/a>\u2019s Avatar<\/a><\/strong> franchise.<\/p>\n

Cameron\u2019s Avatar was released in United States theaters in 2009. One of the highest-grossing movies of all time, it stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, and Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch. A sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water<\/a>, arrived in 2022, while the third movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/a>, arrives later this year.<\/p>\n

Brolin, meanwhile, can be seen in Zach Cregger\u2019s Weapons movie, which opens in United States theaters this weekend. Later this year, he\u2019ll appear in Rian Johnson\u2019s Knives Out 3, also known as Wake Up Dead Man, and Edgar Wright\u2019s The Running Man, while he\u2019s also attached to star in 2026\u2019s The Dog Stars and Whalefall.<\/p>\n

What Avatar character did Josh Brolin turn down?<\/h2>\n

It was previously believed that Brolin turned down an offer to star in Avatar: The Way of Water; however, speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused<\/a> podcast, the actor said that he actually could have starred in both films.<\/p>\n

More specifically, Brolin said he was being considered for Lang\u2019s role, but he ultimately turned it down.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I was very happy for [Lang],\u201d he said. \u201cHe\u2019s amazing in it. So it happened exactly like it should have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lang will once again return in Avatar: Fire and Ash, which has a December 19, 2025, release date. The movie also stars Sigourney Weaver, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass, and Kate Winslet, while the screenplay comes from Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver.<\/p>\n

The synopsis for the movie reads, \u201cWith Avatar: Fire and Ash, James Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na\u2019vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na\u2019vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Salda\u00f1a), and the Sully family.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
