It\u2019s been a long road for The Batman\u2014Part II. Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves first The Batman movie hit screens in 2022. And the movie was immensely popular. But now, three years later, we have only seen bare whispers of the movie\u2019s second installment. But happily, it looks like things are finally on the move for The Batman\u2014Part II. In a Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s shareholder letter, the company revealed that The Batman\u2014Part II was eyeing spring 2026 as its official filming start. Here\u2019s what the letter said in full.<\/p>\n

In film, James Gunn is busy preparing the next installments of the DC super family, including \u2018Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow\u2019 (2026), \u2018Clayface\u2019 (2026) and the next \u2018Wonder Woman.\u2019 In addition, \u2018The Batman II\u2019 (2027) is preparing to begin shooting next spring,<\/strong> among several other projects in development. The 10-year vision for the DC universe also includes an exciting array of television projects, including \u2018The Penguin,\u2019 the upcoming new season of \u2018Peacemaker,\u2019 and the debut of \u2018Lanterns\u2019 in 2026. In a precise and measured way, the DC franchise will increasingly overlay across the studio\u2019s broader efforts: from film and TV to consumer products, games, experiences and social.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Did you catch that \u201cThe Batman II (2027) is preparing to begin shooting next spring.\u201d That is major progress for the movie, considering it didn\u2019t even have a script just months ago. Matt Reeves FINALLY finished The Batman\u2014Part II\u2018s script in mid-July<\/a>. But James Gunn warned fans to be nice to Reeves and let him work on his own schedule. Gunn noted, \u201cI am irritated by people. I mean, it\u2019s just that thing people don\u2019t need to be entitled about. It\u2019s going to come out when he feels good about the screenplay. And Matt\u2019s not going to give me the screenplay until he feels good about the screenplay.\u201d We guess that means The Batman\u2014Part II\u2018s screenplay is finally good.<\/p>\n

A little earlier in the year, The Batman\u2014Part II star Robert Pattinson worried about having to play \u201can old Batman.\u201d But it sounds like he won\u2019t have to wait much longer. The Batman \u2013 Part II\u00a0will release on October 1, 2027. And we\u2019ll keep our fingers crossed that the DC Elseworlds sequel movie really will start to film sooner rather than later. We\u2019d hate for Reeves, Pattinson, and the fans to wait much longer to create more of The Batman\u2018s world.
