Brandon Blackstock<\/strong> passed away at 48 years old after privately fighting a lengthy battle with melanoma.<\/p>\n

Sources confirmed to TMZ<\/em><\/a> that the late talent manager had been diagnosed with the disease more than three years ago. While it is considered a \u201chighly curable\u201d form of cancer if discovered early, according to the Mayo Clinic<\/em><\/a>, it is also very dangerous due to its ability to spread quickly.<\/p>\n

Signs of melanoma can include moles that are itching or bleeding, are asymmetrical in shape or that have unusual colors. It is often caused by exposure to ultraviolet light.<\/p>\n

As Star<\/em> previously reported, a representative of the family confirmed Blackstock\u2019s death<\/a> on Thursday, August 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,\u201d the statement read, per People<\/em><\/a>. \u201cWe thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family\u2019s privacy during this very difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to the announcement, his ex-wife Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/a>, 43 \u2013 who welcomed daughter River<\/strong>, 11, and son Remington<\/strong>, 9, with Blackstock during their marriage \u2014 told fans that she would be postponing her August Studio Session concerts<\/a> at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile I normally keep my personal life private<\/a>, this past year, my children\u2019s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,\u201d she wrote in a statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday, August 6. \u201cI am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

The American Idol<\/em> alum and Blackstock separated in 2020 following seven years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized in March 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
