ITV is reportedly in discussions to extend the popular series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! until at least 2030.<\/p>\n

A television insider has indicated that the network aims to lock down the show’s iconic Australian jungle setting for an additional five years, which would see the reality hit reach its milestone 30th series.<\/p>\n

This move signifies a change in ITV’s usual approach, as it has historically only entered into three-year contracts for the use of the Murwillumbah location in New South Wales.<\/p>\n

It is understood that negotiations are currently taking place with Australian officials and the Tweed Shire Council, who need to give the green light for any prolonged filming permissions.<\/p>\n

An informant told The Sun<\/a>: “The production team are planning five years in advance, which is a long-term approach they haven’t adopted before. But this is not a done deal with the local authorities, and the negotiations have just started to secure the site.”, reports the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“They’re not taking anything for granted but are hopeful all parties involved will be able to reach some kind of agreement.”<\/p>\n

A representative for Tweed Shire Council has acknowledged that discussions are in progress.<\/p>\n

She commented: “They will need to seek permission again \u2013 we can’t give open-ended filming permissions to anyone.”<\/p>\n

‘I’m A Celebrity’, presented by Ant McPartlin, aged 48, and Declan Donnelly, also 48, continues to be ITV’s most successful returning entertainment show.<\/p>\n

The programme’s 24th series last year captivated an average viewership of 9.1 million, crowning it the most-watched entertainment show of 2024.<\/p>\n

I’m A Celebrity first hit our screens in 2002, with DJ Tony Blackburn, now aged 81, taking the crown as the first winner.<\/p>\n

The show’s format involves celebrities facing challenges in the Australian outback, vying for the public’s affection. Due to the Covid pandemic, the programme temporarily moved to Gwrych Castle in North Wales for its 2020 and 2021 series.<\/p>\n

The latest series saw 38 year old singer Danny Jones, a member of the band McFly, emerge victorious.<\/p>\n

Richard Coles, 62, and Coleen Rooney, 39, were the close contenders who finished as runners-up.<\/p>\n

The 25th series is slated to return this autumn, although ITV has yet to announce the full roster of celebrity participants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
