Combs\u2019s lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo, gave his first network interview since the high-profile trial to CBS News<\/span>\u2019s Jericka Duncan.<\/p>\n

Ms Duncan asked him whether the mogul had discussed a return to music, despite facing a jail term of 20 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, he has not. But one thing he said was that he was going to be back in Madison Square Garden,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A grand jury acquitted Combs of the two most serious charges against him \u2013 sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy \u2013 last month in a case tied to allegations that he coerced two long-term girlfriends into drug-fuelled \u201cfreak-offs\u201d with hired male escorts.<\/p>\n

However, Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, a lesser charge that carries a maximum of 10 years in prison for each conviction.<\/p>\n

Mr Agnifilo said the singer was determined to reinstate himself in society and reclaim his musical empire.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wants people to know that he has reflected on the blessings that he\u2019s been given, the imperfections that I think he sees in himself,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he wants to get out of jail and re-establish a loving present relationship with all of his seven children. He wants to take care of his mother.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a separate interview, Nicole Westmoreland \u2013 another attorney on Combs\u2019s defence team \u2013 told celebrity.land that \u201cconversations\u201d had taken place with Trump officials about the possibility of clemency.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s my understanding that we\u2019ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,\u201d Ms Westmoreland said.<\/p>\n

When asked previously, the president seemed to consider that a pardon for Combs might be possible, though recent remarks suggested otherwise.<\/p>\n

When asked about Combs last week, US president Donald Trump said: \u201cHe\u2019s celebrating a victory, but I guess it wasn\u2019t as good a victory. Probably, ugh, you know, I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great. He seemed like a nice guy. I didn\u2019t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Trump said Combs\u2019s comments at the time had \u201cclouded his judgment\u201d and made the decision more difficult to make.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
