Scream 4<\/em> alum Alison Brie<\/a><\/strong> is giving an honest review of the film franchise’s latest installment.<\/p>\n

During a recent podcast appearance alongside husband Dave Franco<\/a><\/strong>, the 42-year-old actress looked back on her role in the fourth film of the iconic slasher film franchise\u2014and she also revealed what she believes the newer films are getting wrong.<\/p>\n

Explaining her “problem with the current era of the Scream<\/em> franchise,” on a new episode of the Shut Up Evan<\/em> podcast<\/a>, Brie claimed “too many people live” in the newer movies.<\/p>\n

“The core four needs to die!” she declared, while insisting, “We should be down to two of the core four by\u00a0Scream 7.<\/em>“<\/p>\n

However, Brie also thinks that one character in particular should have never been killed off.<\/p>\n

The GLOW<\/em> actress then claimed that killing off David Arquette<\/strong>‘s character, Dewey Riley, was a big “mistake.”<\/p>\n

She insisted that they needed to “keep the main three,” referring to Dewey, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell<\/strong>) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox<\/a><\/strong>). The three OG characters<\/a> appeared in all of the first four movies, and have each reprised their roles for various installments of the new revived franchise.<\/p>\n

But as for her own role in 2011’s Scream 4<\/em>, Brie’s character wasn’t so lucky. Portraying Sidney’s assistant Rebecca Walters, Brie’s character doesn’t make it until the end of the movie before she is killed in a parking garage.<\/p>\n

“I feel like with new\u00a0Scream\u00a0<\/em>rules, even though she dies brutally, we could bring her back,” Franco, 40, quipped during the interview, to which his wife replied, “Yeah, where\u2019s my role in\u00a0Scream 7<\/em>?”<\/p>\n

Scream 7<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 27, 2026.<\/p>\n
