Christina Applegate<\/strong> has been staying at a hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a painful health scare.<\/p>\n

On the Tuesday, August 5, installment of her and Jamie Lynn Sigler<\/strong>\u2019s MeSsy<\/a><\/em> podcast \u2013 which she recorded from the hospital \u2013 the Bad Moms<\/em> star, 53, revealed she started experiencing symptoms while on a trip to see her family in Europe.<\/p>\n

By the time she got home, things had apparently progressed so badly that she decided to go to the emergency room in the middle of the night and insisted on being checked in to the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like, I wanna be admitted,\u201d she recalled telling hospital staff. \u201cI\u2019m staying here because I want answers. I want every test that you can possibly think of or ones that you haven\u2019t even thought of, and I want them done.\u201d<\/p>\n

Applegate \u2013 who also battles multiple sclerosis \u2013 said that she was still in significant pain the next day, sparking her own worries that her appendix could be \u201cbursting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo much pain,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m screaming, and they ordered me an emergency CT at 2 in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n

The results of the scan revealed that Applegate didn\u2019t have appendicitis \u2013 she had a severe kidney infection that had already spread to her other kidney. The mother of one, who shares daughter Sadie Grace<\/strong>, 14, with husband Martyn LeNoble<\/strong>, quipped that the doctors initially wondered if she\u2019d had a urinary tract infection due to poor hygiene habits.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike, what am I back-wiping? Like, seriously, I\u2019m 53,\u201d she said, noting that she\u2019d once been asked if she wiped from the front to the back. \u201c[I have] the cleanest vagina \u2026 I\u2019m a clean girl down yonder.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for how she\u2019s doing now, the Married\u2026With Children<\/em> alum is still in the hospital because she has to be given \u201cintravenous antibiotics\u201d to fight the infection.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that\u2019s where we\u2019re at,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

While she\u2019s getting the appropriate care, it\u2019s still been a difficult and uncomfortable situation for her to deal with.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m holding in a bag o\u2019 tears right now,\u201d she confessed. \u201cI sometimes fall into the nurse\u2019s arms like a freako, just like crying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Applegate has battled a number of medical issues and health scares over the years.<\/p>\n

Back in 2008, she made the decision to undergo a double mastectomy after she was diagnosed with cancer in one of her breasts. In 2017, she opted to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed as well, as she had the BRCA1 genetic mutation, which heightened her chances of developing ovarian cancer.<\/p>\n

Four years later, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. According to the Mayo Clinic<\/a>, MS is a disease that causes the immune system to \u201cattack the protective sheath that covers nerve fibers,\u201d and can result in mobility difficulties, numbness, weakness, and many other symptoms.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t walk. They had to use a wheelchair to get me to set,\u201d she said of being diagnosed while filming her show Dead to Me<\/em> during a 2022 interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em>. \u201cI was freaking out until someone was like \u2018You need an MRI.\u2019 And then, I found out on a Monday after work that I had MS, you know, a disease that I am going to have for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
